CONCORD (KTVU) -- A De La Salle High School football player has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a teen girl at Carondelet High School, police said Wednesday.

Authorities did not reveal the identity of the 15-year-old suspect but said the case has been turned over to the Contra Costa district attorney for review.

Investigators said the incident happened on the campus of De La Salle after a football game on Nov. 18, 2016. It was not immediately clear if the suspect knew the victim before the incident.

The Carondelet administration says the following Monday, a student at the all-girls school came forward.

"A student came to our principal and reported the alleged assault. We immediately put her and her family in touch with our counselors for support. And we immediately called Concord police.' said  Jennifer Ortega, a Carondelet High School spokeswoman.

"It is deeply disppointing. Our prayers are with the student and her family," said Ortega.

Police said in a written statement that they believed the incident was an isolated case and no other victims were expected.

The football player was not on the varsity team. Police wouldn't say if the victims knew each other.

"The boy was arrested and transported to juvenile hall yesterday,"said Concord Police Cpl. Summer Galer.
Carondelet sent letters out to parents today informing them of what happened.

"We care deeply about the safety and well being of all students at De La Salle and Carondelet," De La Salle school President Mark DeMarco said.

"We are not at liberty to discuss the situation; it is our responsibility to protect the privacy of the minors involved, as well as the police investigation, which we are cooperating with fully."

Anyone with information about this case was asked to call Detective Kyle Colvin at (925) 603-5856. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can call the Concord Police Department Tip-line at (925) 603-5836.
