There is some encouraging news about an 88-year-old woman who was brutally beaten during a home invasion in East San Jose last month.

Doctors say Flo Douglas, known affectionately to many as "Miss Flo" is improving.

They say she has been moved out of intensive care to a trauma unit, where she is making measurable progress through physical therapy.

Investigators say a fingerprint at the crime scene led them to the suspect,19-year-old Zachary Omar Cuen.

He was charged last month with attempted murder, burglary, robbery, and elder abuse.

Cuen faces life in prison if convicted on all charges.
