HAYWARD, Calif. (KTVU) - KTVU photojournalist Jorge Bustos was driving home on SB 880 through Hayward when he noticed drivers pulling over and picking up money off the roadway around noon Monday.
When Bustos took a closer look he noticed drivers appeared to be collecting crisp $20 bills.
Bustos' dashcam captured the scene.
Hayward CHP Officer Manuel Leal tells KTVU there were multiple calls about money blowing on the freeway. However, when officers arrived at the scene the money was gone. It's unclear where the money originated from.
Leal says since drivers are only allowed to stop on the freeway in emergency cases, they could have been ticketed.
Additional details on this incident were not released.
