East Bay Congressman Eric Swalwell visits KTVU ahead of his presidential campaign rally in Dublin

East Bay Congressman Eric Swalwell is kicking of his presidential campaign Sunday at his high school alma mater, Dublin High School.

The 38-year-old, four-term congressman reprsents the 15th District of California, including cities such as Castro Valley and Dublin.

He announced his candidacy during an appearance on the CBS program "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."

Swalwell then held a town hall at an arena in Sunrise, Florida, just 13-miles from where 17 people were shot and killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida in February 2018.

Swalwell talked about the need to reduce gun violence. It is one of the central issues of his campaign.

Representative Swalwell came to the KTVU studio before his rally Sunday, and was a guest on KTVU's "Mornings on 2."

He talked to news anchor Claudine Wong about his campaign, issues in the presidential race, the frenzy over the last few days, and the support he has received from family and friends.
