MENDOCINO, Calif. (KTVU) - The Eel fire in Mendocino County has rapidly grown to 865 acres as of Tuesday night, according to CalFire officials.
Evacuations are in progress for Mendocino Pass Road, east of Covelo. The fire is the third wildfire to break out in Mendocino County in addition to the two fires that now comprise the Mendocino Complex Fires, which began on Friday.
Mendocino County Sheriff's Office issued immediate evacuation orders for Mendocino Pass Road Covelo from the Eel River Guard Station, heading east to the Mendocino County Line and 1 mile out Indian Dick Road from the Eel River Guard Station.
Residents are asked to move to a safe location as firefighters battle the 30-acre Eel Fire off Indian Dick Road and Mendocino Pass Road, east of Covelo.
The Sheriff's Office tweeted those in need of shelter should check the Covelo Fire Station at 75900 Covelo Road starting at 9:30 p.m. There, they will be met by Mendocino County Health and Human Services Agency officials.
