Elk Fire grows to 450 acres north of Lake County

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. (KTVU) -- Another wildfire is burning out of control in north of Lake County Wednesday night.
The Elk Fire was first reported shortly before 3 p.m. in the White Rock Canyon Road area in Upper Lake. By 7:45 p.m., the fire had grown to 450 acres and was 20 percent contained.
Over 200 fire fighters are at scene are aggressively battling the blaze with additional firefighting resources requested and responding.
Evacuations were ordered for people who live near White Rock Canyon Road, but those orders were lifted later Wednesday evening.
The road closure will be re-evaluated Thursday morning. Those who live near White Rock Canyon Road are still under an Advisory Evacuation and should be prepared to evacuate.
An evacuation staging area will be set up at the Upper Lake County Park. While temperatures were in the 80s on Wednesday, humidity readings of 35 percent are helping fire crews.
