Evacuations lifted in Napa Co. fire
NAPA COUNTY, Calif. (KTVU) - Firefighters worked overnight to gain containment of a 60-acre grass fire off Dry Creek Road, three miles west of Yountville in Napa County, according to Cal-Fire.
As of 6:45 a.m.., the fire is 75 percent contained, and evacuation orders have been lifted.
Napa County Sheriff’s Office tweeted a Nixle alert at around 5:40 p.m. Monday that a mandatory evacuation was in place for The Creek Fire for Campbell Flats and Campbell Creek.
There are no known structures damaged nor injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Cal Fire officials say they were able to save one large home in the area, mainly because the homeowner had done an excellent job of clearing brush around their home prior to the fire.
High humidity and calm conditions overnight helped firefighters in the firefight as they navigated steep and treacherous terrain to access the blaze.
Cal-Fire says the incident was initially reported at 4:15 p.m.
Six air tankers, four helicopters and eight fire crews have responded to the vegetation blaze making a total 180 personnel at the scene.
The sheriff's office says there is an evacuation center at Crosswalk Community Church in the gym at 2590 1st St. in Napa.
