Father killed outside home in Castro Valley
CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. (KTVU) -- - Alameda County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting Monday night that killed a man outside his home in an unincorporated area of Castro Valley.
Authorities believe the shooter, may have approached in a car, and opened fire.
It happened at about 6 p.m. on Wilson Avenue, near Redwood Road.
Although no name has yet been released, the victim has been identified as a 37-year-old construction worker.
The sheriff's office says a shooting like this is very uncommon in this area.
"We don't know why he came out front," said Sgt. Ray Kelly, Alameda County Sheriff's Office. "We don't know if he came out front to meet somebody, to talk to somebody, or if by chance he was walking to his vehicle, and was targeted."
Deputies do not have a motive for the attack. They talked to people in the neighborhood, looking for witnesses and surveillance footage.
Among the people inside the house at the time of the shooting, was the victim's 9-year-old daughter.
