Federal report to analyze SFPD

A federal report will be released Wednesday scrutinizing the San Francisco Police Department.

The initial assessment is set to be released at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Mayor Ed Lee asked the US Justice Department to analyze the police department, following last December's deadly shooting of Mario Woods.

The release of this report comes as the city is working to select finalists for the permanent police chief position.

The former chief, Greg Suhr, resigned after several controversial police shootings and allegations against the department of racism and excessive police force against minorities.
