Felon arrested in connection with firearm possession

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (BCN) - Police on Friday arrested a convicted felon in Santa Rosa in connection with possession of a loaded firearm, according to police.
Wayne Gregory Patrick, 49, of Santa Rosa, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a loaded firearm, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, having a firearm with the serial number removed and violation of probation, police said.
On Friday at 4:30 p.m., officers with the Santa Rosa Police Department's Gang Crimes Team conducted a probation search at a residence in the 1100 block of Rutledge Avenue.
A detective recognized Patrick as a convicted felon on probation, according to police.
Police said during the search Patrick retrieve a backpack from the home's garage and then try to hide it in the backyard.
Officers detained Patrick, searched the backpack and located a loaded .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun with a removed serial number inside.
Also during the probation search, Ashley Florence Patrick, 21, of Santa Rosa, was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant for assault with a deadly weapon with force likely to create great bodily injury and on a probation violation, police said.
