Four dead in I-80 crash in San Pablo; Arrest in connection to suspected hit-and-run

CHP officers late Saturday night arrested a hit-and-run suspect who caused a collision that killed four people on westbound Interstate Highway 80 at San Pablo Dam Road in San Pablo, according to CHP officials.

The CHP says the suspect has been identified as Fred Lowe, 47, from Sacramento. 

At 11:45 p.m., CHP officials announced on social media that Lowe was apprehended. The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office assisted in the arrest. 

 

The collision was reported at 8:11 p.m. on Highway 80 at the San Pablo Dam Road off-ramp. The collision involved five vehicles and the suspect had fled the scene, CHP officials said.
Four people died in the collision and six were injured, CHP officials said.


A Sig-alert was issued at 9:22 p.m. because all westbound lanes of  Highway 80 are blocked near the collision. All lanes of the roadway were reopened just after 3:30 a.m., and the Sig-alert was canceled.
