Freeway shooting on I-880 in Hayward causes shutdown
HAYWARD, Calif. (KTVU) - A shooting was reported on northbound Interstate 880 in Hayward this evening. California Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting they say happened around 7 p.m.
As of 9:30PM, CHP reports that there is police department activity and a severe traffic alert on northbound I-880 at W Winton Ave in Hayward. All lanes remain closed.
Traffic is being diverted off at A Street. Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes to avoid the area. There is no estimated time to reopen the roadway.
At this point there's no word on a suspect vehicle or suspect.
