Fremont: Ford sedan crushed; big rig overturns, spills gravel on 680
FREMONT, Calif. (KTVU) - California Highway Patrol is reporting a big-rig full of gravel overturned Friday on northbound I-680 in Fremont.
CHP said they received calls at around 2:16 p.m. when the dump truck exited 680 to make a right turn on Mission Boulevard. When it made the turn, the truck went over the center median and crushed a Ford sedan. The drivers of both vehicles had visible injuries, but they were said to be non-life threatening.
At around 4 p.m. CHP issued a severe traffic alert and said it would be an extensive cleanup.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes to avoid the area. There is no estimated time to reopen the roadway.
