Fremont police searching for robbery suspects near Hwy 880
FREMONT, Calif. (BCN/KTVU) - Fremont police are searching for one or more suspects near Interstate Highway 880 this afternoon, police said.
A traffic alert was issued at 3:35 p.m. as the southbound lanes were shut down and another alert was issued at 3:39 p.m. as the northbound lanes were closed.
A foot pursuit ensued for the suspects, Fremont police spokeswoman Officer Geneva Bosques said.
One suspect was taken into custody and one or two are at large.
The northbound lanes had reopened as of 3:50 p.m. and officers were working to open one southbound lane, Bosques said at 4:16 p.m.
Police believe the suspects were involved in a robbery in Millbrae and came across the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge to the East Bay.
Officers are searching for the at-large suspects in the area around Central and Mowry avenues in Newark, across Highway 880 from Fremont.
ACE Train 4 from Vasco to Tracy was also experiencing up to 24-minute delays from the police activity.
