Green Day pop-up offering 'Idiot Nation' merchandise at Oakland record store
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - To kick off the punk rock band’s homecoming show this weekend, Green Day will open a two-day pop-up shop at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records in Oakland where “Idiot Nation” fans will be able to pick up exclusive merchandise while supplies last.
The shop at 420 40th St. opens Thursday from 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Friday from noon to 8 p.m. There is no admission fee, other than paying for the merchandise.
Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt were at 1-2-3-4 Go! in December when they made a special guest appearance for a Ghost Ship benefit show. But it's unclear if they will be at the record store. A spokesman on Tuesday told KTVU he wasn't sure if the band members would appear or not.
Formed in 1986, the band was a pioneer in the punk scene at the DIY 924 Gilman Street Club in Berkeley.
Green Day plays Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Oakland Coliseum as part of the fall leg of their Revolution Radio World Tour.
