Rain causes closure of this Bay Area school district
GUERNEVILLE, Calif. - It was raining so hard on Tuesday that one Bay Area district closed all its schools for the day.
The Guerneville School District did not hold classes, either in person or online, because of flooding near campuses, according to the Sonoma County Office of Education.
Guerneville has one K-8 charter school in its district on Armstrong Woods Road.
Guerneville is located along the flood-prone Russian River Valley, and can average about 40 inches of rain a year.
It's about an hour and a half drive north of San Francisco.
The National Weather Service expects that four inches of rain could fall on Tuesday alone throughout Sonoma County.
The NWS said the North Bay should see moderate urban stream flooding and several landslides.
The rest of the Bay Area was also soaked on Tuesday, with more rain expected on Thursday and Friday.
