Hawaii-bound flight returns to SFO due to cooling problem

A United Airlines flight that was leaving San Francisco International Airport and headed to Hawaii had to make an emergency return to SFO Thursday morning, an airport spokesman said.

Flight 1721, which departed SFO at 9 a.m., was on its way to Kona, Hawaii, but had to return to SFO because of a "cabin cooling problem," SFO spokesman Doug Yakel said.

The flight landed without incident shortly before 12:30 p.m.

No other information about the incident was immediately available.
