Hayward BART Station reopens after suspicious package incident
HAYWARD, Calif. (BCN) - The Hayward BART station has reopened tonight after closing for several hours as police investigated a suspicious package, BART officials said.
The service disruption was first reported on Twitter at 4:42 p.m.
BART spokesman Jim Alison said the station would remain closed, with no through service, as BART police investigated.
As of 7:50 p.m., the station had reopened. Passengers were still experiencing residual delays of up to 10 minutes, however.
The station closure caused major delays system-wide, as trains were neither stopping at the station nor being allowed to pass through.
Details about the suspicious package that caused the station closure were not immediately available.
