Homeless man arrested in L.A. building fire that killed 5

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Los Angeles police have arrested a homeless man arrested on suspicion of murder in arson fire that killed five.

Officials said four bodies were found and the death toll had risen on Tuesday after the Monday night fire at an abandoned two-story office building near downtown Los Angeles.

City fire spokesman Brian Humphrey said nearly 150 firefighters have had to assume a defensive position because of the heavy flames burning at the building in the Westlake District on Monday night.

Humphrey said the fire broke out at about 7 p.m. in a building that is officially vacant, but there were reports of people inside.
