Hundreds pack H&M in SF for designer release

Hundreds of people lined up outside the H&M store in San Francisco's Union Square Thursday morning, hoping to get their hands on an exclusive fashion bargain.

It's all part of a designer collaboration launch between the well-known French designer brand Balmain and H&M.

The Balmain x H&M collection included beaded jackets, draped trousers and genie pants.

The collection is intended to be more affordable but that's depending on whom you ask, with some pieces priced at more than $500.

The first person in line arrived at the Union Square store at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The store didn't open until 8 a.m. Thursday.

The first 420 people in line get a wristband, and the store lets in groups of 30 shop for 15 minutes at a time.
