Increase of students at Livermore Public Schools

LIVERMORE, Calif. (KTVU) - There are more than 500 hundred new students in Livermore Public Schools, this new school year.
According to the East Bay Times, 80 percent of those new students come from two embattled charter schools - Livermore Valley Charter School and Livermore Valley Charter Preparatory.
The paper says the company that runs those two schools, is facing allegations of financial mismanagement and illegally charging foreign exchange students tuition and transferring them to a school in Stockton against their will.
State superintendent of education Tom Torlakson tells the paper it's the most serious set of allegations against a charter school that he's ever seen.
