Injured bald eagle found on tracks near Morgan Boulevard Metro Station

A wildlife rescue team has saved an injured bald eagle who was found on the tracks in an area between the Addison Road and Morgan Boulevard Metro stations Wednesday evening.

According to Metro, animal resources personnel received safety briefings from rail officials before they began their rescue efforts.

The team of eight were dropped off near the eagle's location after riding a Metro train into the area. Officials confirmed the third rail power was down before they made their approach. Moments later, they rescued the eagle in a plastic bin.

Metro officials say Blue/Silver line service has been restored. 

City Wildlife officials tell FOX 5 after x-rays it is confirmed that the eagle has “multiple fractures” in its right wing. They are now waiting on consult with Tri-state Bird Rescue in Delaware to see if they will take the five-year-old bird for treatment.
