Joni Mitchell's website says she's alert, recovery expected

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A message posted to Joni Mitchell's website states the singer is alert and is expected to make a full recovery despite a friend's court filing that the Grammy-winner is unconscious.

The message posted Tuesday on Mitchell's website states the singer remains hospitalized but is expected to make a full recovery. Mitchell has been hospitalized since March 31.

Leslie Morris, who is identified in a court filing as Mitchell's friend of more than 44 years, is seeking to be appointed the singer's conservator. Her filing Tuesday stated Mitchell was unconscious and unable to make medical decisions.

A declaration from a doctor states the 71-year-old Mitchell will likely be unable to attend any court hearings for the next four to six months, but it does not provide further details on her condition or prognosis.
