Kidnapping suspect arrested in Alameda County
A man led sheriff's deputies on a pursuit through Contra Costa County Saturday afternoon eventually ending with his arrest in Alameda County for multiple reasons.
The sheriff's office said the driver, who is not being identified at this time, allegedly committed a vehicle code violation around 2:30 p.m. in North Richmond.
According to the sheriff's office, the driver did not yield and led deputies on a pursuit.
Deputies determined that the registered owner of the vehicle allegedly had an arrest warrant for kidnapping, evasion, false imprisonment and domestic violence, and driver matched the description of the registered
owner, according to the sheriff's office.
During the pursuit, deputies witnessed a female passenger who appeared distressed and waving her arms out of the window.
The sheriff's office said the pursuit ended on San Pablo Avenue in Albany, and the driver attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended by a Richmond Police K-9 unit.
An investigation is ongoing, and the female passenger was allegedly a victim of kidnapping, according to the sheriff's office.
