Lockdown lifted, student detained at Benicia High School

Officers are investigating a threat at Benicia High School Monday morning.

Multiple sources reported a gun was brought to school and the student was in health class when he was arrested without incident. Police have not confirmed those reports, saying they detained a student, but did not find a weapon at the school.

According to authorities, the student sent out a threat about a shooting and then suicide on social media Sunday night.  Other students were also included in that group message. Police are interviewing the student and say they are confident there is no credible threat.

Benicia High School, Benicia Middle School and Mary Farmar Elementary school were placed on lockdown as a precaution due to the threat. The lockdown has since been lifted.

At this point, additional details have not been released.
