OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - A luxury boat got stuck in the Oakland Estuary on Sunday after hitting a break wall.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, people on board the 51ft yacht called for help around 12:28pm Sunday. The Coast Guard was able to rescue four people from the boat, and took them to Jack London Square.
The Coast Guard said the boat was outside the navigable channel during high tide.
“He didn’t see (the break wall) and if you’re outside the channel there’s objects you can hit that may be submerged,” said Lt. Jake Urrutia of the U.S. Coast Guard. “So it’s always a good idea to be outside the inside the channel.”
The boat was left in the estuary until a special crane could be brought in to remove it off the wall. It was towed to shore Monday around noon.
