Major Walnut Creek road closed due to downed tree

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (BCN) - Walnut Creek police estimate that Ygnacio Valley Road will be closed until at least 4 p.m. Tuesday after a tree fell, blocked the roadway and knocked down power lines earlier Tuesday morning.

The road closure was first reported around 1:40 a.m. and PG&E officials said around 4:30 a.m. that some customers are receiving power again, but deferred questions about road closures to police.

Police advise commuters to take alternate routes and avoid the area.
