Malech Fire in Santa Clara County now 85 percent contained
MORGAN HILL, Calif. (KTVU) - A vegetation fire just east near U.S. Highway 101 between South San Jose and Morgan Hill in Santa Clara County was 85 percent contained on Monday, Cal Fire said.
The fire, which burned 210 acres and is dubbed the Malech Fire after the nearby Malech Road, was first reported at about 3:15 p.m. Sunday. The San Jose Fire Department is helping Cal Fire fight the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Santa Clara County Supervisors Cindy Chavez and Dave Cortese are hosting a town hall meeting Monday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Foothill Presbyterian Church in San Jose with a focus on preparing for wildfire season.
