Man arrested after chase through Hayward, Fremont

FREMONT, Calif. (KTVU) - One man has been arrested on suspicion of leading officers on a chase from Hayward to Fremont in a stolen van.

A CHP officer saw the van on Highway 880 Monday, at about 2:00 a.m.

Officers chased the van into Fremont.

The suspect got out and ran near Dusterberry Way and Westminster Circle, according to officers.

Authorities searched house-to-house for the suspect, and he was eventually found hiding in the backyard of a home.

Officers say they recovered a backpack with copper wiring in it, but it’s not clear if the wiring was stolen.

No one hurt during the chase or arrest.

Investigators believe there may have been other suspects, but they were not able to find them.
