Man arrested after trying to steal phone at BART station

OAKLAND (BCN) - Police arrested a Vacaville teenager who allegedly tried to steal a victim's phone at a BART station in Oakland on Friday morning.
At 7:51 a.m., numerous BART patrons reported a male suspect trying to take a phone from a female victim at the 12th Street station.
A struggle broke out between the two and the victim managed to keep her phone, police said.
The suspect allegedly fled on a train, but was detained at the West Oakland station.
The victim responded to the station and confirmed that the suspect in their custody was the one who tried to steal her phone, police said.
The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Anthony Layton of Vacaville, was issued a prohibition order.
He was booked into the Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of attempted robbery and for an outstanding $10,000 theft warrant, police said.
The victim was not injured during the crime, police said.
According to police, officers had originally detained another potential suspect who physically resisted detention.
That suspect, identified as 19-year-old Ezekiel Addison of San Francisco, was not identified by the victim as being involved in the robbery.
Addison, however, was arrested and booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail on suspicion of resisting and delaying an officer, police said.
