Man arrested in deadly BART attack of transient man

BART police say this man fatally assaulted another man at the Bay Fair BART station early Saturday, July 21.
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - Police have arrested a man they say fatally attacked a transient man at a San Leandro BART station early Saturday, July 21.
Jashawn Combs, 24 of Fremont turned himself in Monday at the Oakland Police Department, according to BART police.
Police say the suspect punched 47-year-old Don Stevens in the side of the head with a closed fist on the platform of the Bay Fair station about 1:20 a.m.
Police say Stevens fell to the ground and hit his head on the cement platform.
Officers gave Stevens CPR until paramedics arrived and transported the victim to a hospital, where he was declared brain dead.
Although BART officers could not find any witnesses who saw the attack, surveillance video from the train and the station showed the deadly assault, police said.
