Man fatally shot on Treasure Island in SF's 22nd homicide this year

SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU/BCN) - A man was fatally shot on San Francisco's Treasure Island on Wednesday evening, according to police.

The shooting was reported at 5:29 p.m. in the 900 block of Avenue B.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead. His name is not yet being released by the medical examiner's office.

No arrest had been reported in the case as of this morning and no suspect information was immediately available.

Several residents said they were shocked to find homicide detectives at the corner duplex home.

“We approached the cops and asked them if we should be worried about anything and they said no,” Talia Mole, who lives in the neighborhood, said.

On Thursday, a restoration crew arrived to clean the house and investigators returned to question neighbors.

“I’m from a much smaller town so I’m not used to being around this sort of stuff happening,” Leah Cooper, another resident, said. “San Francisco is a big city and these sorts of things happen.”

This is San Francisco’s 22nd homicide of the year, but the first on the island in recent memory.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with "SFPD" in the message.
