A man was taken into custody after trying to escape Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas.

According to authorities, Christopher Boscacci was arrested Aug. 26 on a petty theft charge. He was set to appear in court Monday.

On Saturday around 2 p.m. he climbed the jail's fence - leaving his sandal stuck on the fence. He walked and crawled along the top of the security fencing. He ended up falling about 25 to 30 feet between two additional fences.

Boscacci used his shirt to cover his hands on the power lines. Authorities took him into custody.

Boscacci is now in the main jail and faces an attempted escape charge.
