Man shot near San Jose State University campus

Police are investigating an overnight shooting near San Jose State university.

Authorities were called to the 400 block of East William Street, near South 10th Street at 11 p.m. Thursday.

Officers found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police closed off the area for hours, as they collected evidence at the scene.

Police said they were looking into the circumstances around the shooting, and and that the suspect remained at large.

A witness told KTVU that she heard 3 gunshots, and saw a man in his 20s on the ground.

She said it was an apparent drive-by shooting.

KTVU is trying to confirm these details with police.
