Mandatory evacuations issued for parts of Sonoma Valley, Geyserville

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered this evening for two areas of Sonoma County, Geyserville and the eastern parts of Sonoma Valley, sheriff's officials said.

Residents east of the city of Sonoma, along Castle Road north of Lovall Valley Road and along Seventh Street East, also north of Lovall Valley Road, were ordered to leave immediately, the sheriff's office said around
8:20 p.m.

Earlier this evening, residents near Geyserville had also been given mandatory evacuation orders. That area includes from state Highway 128, between River Rock Casino and Geysers Road, and to the county's eastern
border.

So far, 13 people have died in Sonoma County due to the Tubbs Fire, which began near Calistoga in Napa County around 9:45 p.m. Sunday but quickly spread west to Santa Rosa and other parts of Sonoma County. The
wildfire has burned 27,363 acres and is 10 percent contained as of 8 p.m. today, according to Cal Fire.
