MARIN COUNTY, Calif. (BCN) - By Bay City News Service
Two people were arrested following a standoff, pursuit and a report of shots fired Wednesday afternoon in unincorporated Marin County, sheriff's officials said.
Two deputies were flagged down at about 4:30 p.m. following a report of shots fired on Cole Drive in Marin City, sheriff's Sgt. Brenton Schneider said.
While with a witness, at least one deputy saw a vehicle that may have been occupied by the suspects. Deputies tried to stop the vehicle but it kept going and a pursuit started. Schneider said that during the pursuit deputies saw what they believe was a gun thrown from the vehicle.
The pursuit ended at Drake Avenue and Pacheco Street. Schneider said that one suspect stayed in the vehicle and was taken into custody.
A second suspect ran into a nearby house and barricaded himself inside. Following negotiations, the suspect surrendered peacefully.
Schneider said that deputies found a gun in the area where they believe a suspect threw a gun out of the vehicle.
Sheriff's officials have not received any reports of injuries from the suspected shooting.
