An outage in and around Mill Valley left thousands of PG&E customers without power this afternoon, according to a PG&E spokeswoman.

The outage was first reported at 2:48 p.m. and initially affected around 2,900 customers, according to PG&E spokeswoman Megan McFarland.

As of about 3:25 p.m., about 1,400 customers had their power restored. Most of those customers are in Mill Valley, McFarland said.

Currently, around 1,500 customers are still without power. The majority of those customers are in Belvedere and Tiburon, according to McFarland.

The outage may have originated at a substation in Mill Valley. PG&E crews are at the scene this afternoon trying to determine what caused the outage.

As of 3:50 p.m., there was no estimated time for when power to the remaining customers would be restored, McFarland said.
