Marine running for fallen comrades crawls across Boston Marathon finish line

A Marine who ran the Boston Marathon in honor of three men he served alongside created a powerful image of strength when he crawled across the finish line.

Micah Herndon, 31, ran the race in 3 hours and 38 minutes.

But to hit that mark, he had to drag himself along the pavement to finish when his body almost gave out.

The Ohio native served several deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan.

During a tour in 2010, three people he served with were killed when they were targeted by an explosive device.

Herndon said he ran the Boston Marathon on Sunday for them.

His orange Nike sneakers also featured their names weaved in with the shoelaces.
