Menlo Park gas leak triggers shelter-in-place warning

Police are asking some residents in Menlo Park to shelter in place as they correct a gas leak Monday morning.

Around 4 a.m., police responded to a report of a gas leak in the 500 block of Laurel Street, according to a police dispatcher.

A downed tree, which is blocking traffic, caused the leak, police said.

PG&E as well as the Menlo Park Fire Department are responding to the scene.

Police are asking people who live in the 500 block of Laurel Street and the 500 block of Hopkins Street to shelter in place.

They're also asking residents to avoid Laurel Street between Ravenswood Ave and Burgess Drive.
