Metallica frontman James Hetfield gives land to Marin Agricultural Land Trust

A well known rock star has given more than 1,000 acres of land to the Marin Agricultural Land Trust.
Metallica front man James Hetfield owns land in Lucas Valley and has made other donations of land to the trust in the past.
This time, the easement ensures the 1,000 acres northwest of San Rafael will be used for agricultural purposes only.
The Marin County Board of Supervisors signed off on the deal at their meeting Tuesday night.
