Motorcyclist dies in collision with deputy's vehicle

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — California Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a motorcyclist who crashed into a deputy's vehicle in Bakersfield.

KBAK-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1CGHTpa) the Kern County Sheriff's deputy had lights and siren activated as he turned at an intersection. The 59-year-old motorcycle driver hit his passenger side door and died at the scene.

California Highway Patrol Officer Robert Rodriguez says the deputy may have been making the turn during a red light, though it's unknown whether speed was a factor.
