Nearly 50 acres burned in Castro Valley vegetation fire

A vegetation fire that burned near Palo Verde Road in Castro Valley is 100 percent contained, the Alameda County Fire District said Sunday.

The fire, first reported at 12:20 p.m.Sunday in the 6500 block of Palo Verde Road, burned 48 acres.

There were no injuries, and no buildings were damaged.

The fire could be seen from Interstate 580.

Cal Fire crews remained on the scene Sunday evening, having taken over from Alameda County Fire as the lead agency.

Eight other local agencies, including three local fire departments, also fought the fire.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation late Sunday.
