NFL caters to women at 'Ladies Night'

SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) – The NFL showed its glitz and glamor side on Tuesday when it hosted a Ladies Night inside the NFL Shop at the Moscone Center West.

“The NFL loves our women fans,” Natara Holloway, Vice President of Consumer Products for the NFL said. “We have a lot of them.”

Oakland Raiders fan Jane McKenzie came to shop for the boys in her family, but decided to pamper herself too.

“You can tell there’s a feminine touch to everything,” McKenzie said. “It’s a nice tribute to the ladies that are behind the scenes and in front of the scenes, beside the scenes and in front of the scenes.”

The Ladies Night treated women to “fanicures,” flash tattoos, wine tastings and more. Fox Sports Reporter Erin Andrews made a guest appearance.

“It makes us feel special,” Lori Harding, a 49ers fan, said. “I don’t think the guys have anything like this going on. We’re pretty lucky.”

Of course, there is plenty of merchandise at the NFL Shop for women to spend money on, from shirts and sweaters to high-end bling.

Creative Director Angelo Anastasio of Anastasio Moda is selling custom clutches covered in Swarovski crystals with the logo of NFL teams.

“It’s the ultimate gift for someone who comes to the Super Bowl and left their significant other at home,” Anastasio said.

The purses range in price from about $3,500 to $4,500.

“When you consider a ticket can cost as much a 5 thousand dollars it’s a bargain,” he said.

Holloway said even if you’re not into football, the NFL encourages people to grab a souvenir.

“This is the place to get any kind of gift to say I was in the city when Super Bowl 50 came to town,” Holloway said.

In addition, a special edition New Era cap is debuting on Wednesday at the NFL Shop. The black lambskin cap with an 18 karat gold pin costs $2500 and is the most expensive cap New Era has ever made for the NFL.

Only 30 caps were made for the occasion.
