Oakland police investigating 2 separate deadly shootings

OAKLAND (BCN) - Oakland police are investigating two separate fatal shootings on Wednesday afternoon and early Thursday morning, a police officer said.

Wednesday's shooting was reported at 4:36 p.m. in the 2300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way north of West Grand Avenue and near Interstate Highway 980, Officer J. Moore said.

Officers were flagged down by a citizen who told them about a shooting and directed them to the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Moore said.

At 4:09 a.m. Thursday, a shooting was reported in the 9800 block of Burr Street near the Oakland Zoo.

A man was taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 6:06 a.m., Moore said.

No arrests have been made in either shooting and no suspect information was immediately available as of this morning.
