Palo Alto police an arresting presence online
PALO ALTO, Calif. - The Palo Alto Police Department has attracted nationwide attention for its social media savvy.
Police Lt. Zach Perron, who oversees the department's online efforts, says it makes sense for Palo Alto, located in the heart of the tech world, to have a strong presence online.
"We've been online for about four years now, with Twitter, Facebook, Nextdoor, Youtube, Flickr, the whole nine yards, and we absolutely love it," Perron said.
"And I think that probably the best take-away for us is that it gives us a chance to interact with people in a way that's non-traditional, and when you're in the heart of Silicon Valley, people expect to be able to speak wtih the police in whatever medium they prefer."
