Panda Express is giving out free egg rolls for Lunar New Year

(KTVU) - Panda Express is celebrating the start of the Lunar New Year offering customers the gift of free food.

On Tuesday, the fast food chain is handing out red envelopes which will allow customers to redeem a free chicken egg roll and a complimentary Dr. Pepper drink.

 Red envelopes containing money are traditionally handed out during the Lunar New Year, symbolizing good luck and prosperity.  

Across Asia, from Beijing and Seoul to Hanoi and Singapore, people rang in the Year of the Pig on Tuesday with visits to temples, community events, and celebration time with family.
