Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle in Fremont

Police have reopened all lanes of southbound Fremont Boulevard following an investigation into the death of a 57-year-old pedestrian Wednesday morning in Fremont.
At 6:41 a.m., officers responded to a report that a man had been struck on Fremont Boulevard, near Old Warm Springs Road, according to police.
When officers arrived, they found the victim lying on the shoulder suffering life-threatening injuries, police said.
Medical personnel transported the victim to a hospital, however he did not survive, according to police.
Police are withholding the identity of the victim pending family notification, police said.
Officers initially investigated the collision as a hit-and-run, but the driver eventually returned to the scene and cooperated with police.
Investigators determined the female driver was driving south on Fremont Boulevard when she struck the victim, police said.
Police closed one lane of southbound Fremont Boulevard, between Old Warm Springs Road and Ice House Terrace as they investigated the incident.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
