Authorities have released photos of the suspect in last weekend's deadly BART shooting where the gunman is still at large.

BART police held a news conference in Oakland on Wednesday where they asked the public's help in identifying the suspect seen exiting the West Oakland BART Station, where the shooting occurred.

The shooting happened Saturday night at 7:46 p.m. inside a train car at the station,  according to police.

BART Police Chief Kenton Rainey said the investigation is active and ongoing and it is still not known  what the relationship was between the victim and the suspect.

"It’s just not something that normally happens on BART," said Rainey. “This was a pretty brazen, random attack."

The photos of the suspect were taken from BART's surveillance cameras. The victim has yet to be identified.

Rainey answered that in his six years with BART, there had been no shootings aboard a train that he was aware of.

On Monday, BART spokesperson Jim Allison gave KTVU this updated description of the suspect: African American male, late 20's early 30's,  6-foot-2, slim build, broad shoulders, scruffy face, bald head & wearing long green trench coat, with dark hoodie sweatshirt, dark pants  & backpack.

Allison also told KTVU that there is surveillance video from the train and the platform.

According to BART police, one person who matched that description was detained and questioned, but he was later released.

There was limited transbay service Saturday night due to the investigation, but BART is scheduled to open on time Sunday morning.

West Oakland Station closed and only limited transbay service due to BART Police investigation into fatal shooting.
