Piece of metal found in Thailand leads to speculation it came from missing Malaysia Airlines flight

Metal debris found Saturday in Thailand fuels speculation it may have come from missing Malaysian jet

BANGKOK, Thailand (KTVU) -- A large piece of metal was found Saturday off the coast of Southern Thailand, fueling speculation that it may have come from missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, authorities said.

The Reuters News Agency reports that the metal is about 10 feet by 6 and a half feet, and was discovered by villagers in the Nakhon Si Thammarat province, which is located in southern Thailand, west of the Gulf of Thailand.

Government officials have been notified about the discovery, but have not verified it.
Malaysia Airlines MH370 with 239 people onboard, was headed from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March 8 2014, when it vanished on radar.

Investigators believe that 53-year-old Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, likely turned off the transponder, and changed course, and crashed the aircraft into the Indian Ocean.
