Pilot uninjured in San Carlos small plane crash

SAN CARLOS, Calif. (KTVU) -- The pilot of a small plane that crashed near the San Carlos Airport early Wednesday evening was uninjured, according to authorities.

The incident was reported at 5:18 p.m. near Shoreway Road and Holly Street, according to CHP.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the plane, a DV-1 Skylark, went down a half mile off the end of the runway at San Carlos shortly after takeoff.

The plane is not blocking the road, CHP officials said.

Shoreway Road was closed between Holly Street and Cormorant Drive, but has since reopened to traffic.

The FAA is handling the investigation.
